Tasmania Roadtrip - Week 4 - Lake Peddar

It is so peacefull here. It is hard to imagine the protests that began in 1967 when the Tasmanian Government revoked the status of the Lake Pedder National Park in order for the Hydro Scheme to become a reality. Opposition to the flooding of Lake Pedder extended well beyond Tasmania and spread throughout Australia and internationally. Even Prime Minister Gough Whitlam was against it but the State won and it still went ahead.
